Watercolor and ink
Share
When I’m feeling blocked in my process, I sometimes like to haphazardly slop watercolor on paper. I use whatever color appeals to me in the moment. Without any deliberateness, I give the paint and brush control. Sometimes I wash, splatter or spread the color. Once I’ve made my little mess, I set it aside for a day or so. After the dust has settled and the paint dried, I take out the painting and grab an ink pen. Like finding shapes in the clouds, my pen connects the edges and spaces in the paint to create something beautiful from the chaos of the process. For me, creativity is less about deliberation and more about tuning in.
